The Weekend Is Here...Finally

What a week, post CHA, we had craziness at work, and trying to prep for Creative Escape, well, I was tired by friday. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but this week was just, long. I am doing that laundry I never finished last weekend, and today, I am taking all of the paint, and other misc stuff in my bedroom, out and into the garage where it belongs. I can't look at it one more weekend!! I have loads of scrapping to do, and next weekend, I am going to crop at my LSS with a bunch of friends I haven't seen all summer, how much fun will that be?

Good Things

Just like Martha Stewart, I believe in Good Things, today for instance, I came home to a box, packed in it was a basket surrounded by beautifully tied bows and cellophane and a ton of scrapping goodies, thanks to my C E swap partner Kim. I had never participated in a swap or circle journal or anything like that before, needless to say, I was apprehensive. (I wonder, can you possibly have too many prima flowers? I think not)

Kim e-mailed me right way when she was given my name, and we have communicated over the last month or so, gearing up for our big event -- Creative Escape. She is coming all the way from NY and I am only traveling about 20 miles or so from my home. We are already planning on some Mexican Food and who knows what else...perhaps a margarita or two (not sure if she even drinks) anyway, we will be having some fall fun!! We both have sons nearly the same age, and I am guessing we are probably within a year or two of each other. Thanks to our love of scrapping we will be meeting in a few weeks, I think that is just so nifty!

So here's to good friends, old and new, here's to sharing a lifestyle and a way of being, here's to showing my beautiful state to someone from a place I have never been, here's to having chocolate delivered to your front door, and to scrapping and the wonderful people you meet. This is definately a good thing...

Sunday Afternoons

What a lovely sunday, I woke up with a screaming migraine, must've been the heat yesterday, I took my son to IKEA to get some things for his room, bought a desk that wouldn't fit into my tiny toyota, so we had to stand in the blazing hot parking lot and take all the individual components out of the box and load them each separately, dumb.... it is hard to deal with the fact that he is going to be a senior this school year, and then off to college, in a way I am looking forward to watching him grow into the man he is supposed to be and then on the other hand I miss my little boy. A couple of Sunday's ago, we went to the Diamondbacks game with his girlfriend and her parents and aunt. We had a great time, and I enjoyed the afternoon out. I love the look of sheer joy on his face in this photo, I guess that look never changes on your child's face. I wonder if my mother thinks the same thing?

This is my friend Allison, we went to dinner last night to celebrate her and Dene's (new man in her life) birthday's last night, more heat, we ate at a tepanyaki (not sure I spelled that right) table and had a blast, we took turns taking photos, and then we went out to a country and western bar, hadn't been in one in over ten years, I guess the bar scene never changes, we hung out, played some shuffle board and Allison kept trying to get us to go and Karoke (which we never did, thank goodness) what a great night to share with a friend...I treasuure our friendship, good friends are hard to come by. I couldn't wait to get home and take a nice cool shower though, smokey bar, Arizona in July, go figure wanting a shower!

Here it is early evening and I still have laundry to do, and a project to get out for a client and my creative escape project to finish, so I guess I am procrastinating by writing in my blog...some things never change, I don't even need to ask my mother that one, I already know the answer. Have a great week!

CHA Summer

I have to say, I have of the greatest jobs in the world!! I am surrounded daily by colorful cardstock and embellishments, and as an added bonus I get friendly calls from all over the world. I can't think of a better way to spend the work week (who am I kidding, it is not work, it is fun!) Almost everyone is in Chicago today for the CHA Summer Show -- there are only 6 of us in the office. It is quiet, too quiet...my desk has been cleaned off and I have caught up on all the stuff that gets put off until times like this, it's not even lunch yet, and I have not one single thing to do.

My mind is reminding me that I could be doing a million things at home, first and foremost, finishing that layout for my son, our Disneyland pictures and getting my scrap table as clean and neat as my desk at work. There are several mounds of laundry in my bedroom as well, walls to touch up (we have been remodeling) grout to seal, dogs that need a bath, see...lots of things. I feel unproductive at this moment, the fact that it is friday is making it harder to want to sit here doing nothing productive.

I can't wait to see and hear about all of the new stuff that is coming out -- what is new and great, the new color palettes, any gossip that is heard in Chicago over the weekend...I do know there was rain, and lots of it! Flights from Phoenix were cancelled and delayed all day yesterday. I have seen some of daisyd's new paper (and of course, already added to my stash, with matching embelishments and ribbons...thanks Sandi for enabling my bad behavior). I wonder what else is in store for me in the months ahead, I shudder to think of all of the new things I MSUT HAVE!!

I can't wait to get some things done this weekend, I finally finished the prom books for my son and his girlfriend, and got back to the other 20 or so projects I have going. I swear one of these days I will get them done and be "caught up" but seriously, are we ever caught up? Aren't there things that go on, on a daily basis, those cute little photo ops that we can't help ourselves but to get out our trusty camera and take several 100 photos, then you send them to the online photo processing place, and you get these gorgeous prints back...and then need to scrap them?

I wonder does caught up ever happen? Probably not, life continues to go on, and there are so many wonderful memories to make...do you think I can sneak out early and make some new fabulous memories today??

Have a great weekend, keep the camera at the ready (aim, shoot, fire them off to the lab)!

I Scrap, Therefore I am

Today, I started my second (okay third) blog. I haven't updated the .mac one in a while, since really no one was reading, and my blog on another site, well, it's complicated. So I am moving forward. I love scrapbooking...I love the industry, the people, the stories, the photos, the layouts, yep -- everything about scrapping makes me happy (especially the part about buying new supplies). I love that I have made friends from all over thru scrapping!

I have been involved in a new little adventure we call Creative Escape, and again, the scrapping women (and men thank you) are coming from all over the world, to spend a weekend documenting their memories, their children, their spouses...hopefully a few things about THEM. I read their blogs, their posts on the message boards -- and these women are so excited to be a part of this, I am excited to be a very small part of it, and I am thankful that I work in an industry/community/group of people.
